The two pavilions wrapped up in Zincalume cladding at our Dangar Island project.

A reminder again of this tricky site - high bushfire attack level ‘flame zone’ (BAL-FZ), boat access only to the site, and there are no vehicles on Dangar island.

The roof is on at the Dangar Island project. We are using a completely steel structure for this 'Flame Zone' project, whereas in the past I've used timber framing to meet these bushfire requirements, so it has been interesting to compare the two approaches.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These images show the two pavilions and what will be a glazed 'link' between them taking shape. The building has been designed to fit around some groupings of large grass trees on the site.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With boat access only, and no vehicles on the island, everything is being moved up to the site via a very impressive materials inclinator (shown in the last image).

A covered deck addresses the ocean views to the east. Full width glass sliding doors with high level louvres above should work beautifully to take in the sea breeze. Just waiting now for the proper balustrade and a few final bits of metalwork on this elevation.

When building in bushfire prone areas introducing an asset protection zone (APZ) doesn't necessarily mean clearing trees. It's mainly the undergrowth that needs to be reduced and maintained.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This site has an asset protection zone extending to the bottom of the block and most of the trees could be retained.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A delicate balustrade from stainless steel RHS and wires becomes mostly invisible against the filtered view through the trees to the ocean.
